Become part of the Climathon Wuppertal and work together with a team on innovative solutions for climate challenges. Wuppertal is on its way to enable citizens to avoid waste, to promote a climate-friendly production logistics as well as a climate-friendly journey to concerts.

Be part of the Climathon 2019 in Wuppertal, exchange views with up to 80 like-minded people and contribute to the vision of climate-friendly urban development. Together with an inspiring team of start-ups, companies, NGOs, research institutes, citizens and students, you have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions for Wuppertal´s climate challenges. During the 24 hours, the teams will be assisted by professional coaches and experts. The best ideas – awarded by a jury – will be subsequently promoted and further developed. The event takes place mainly in German.

How can we promote climate-friendly travel to concerts for our guests?

Most visitors use their private car for the journey to the concerts, harming the environment whilst doing so. The Historic City Hall of Wuppertal and the Symphony Orchestra Wuppertal are looking for solutions to motivate their guests to use alternative means of transport for the journey.

How can we motivate Wuppertals citizens to avoid littering and actively help to keep the city clean?

Littering is a growing problem for many cities and our environment. Trash is also getting disposed of more carelessly, it often ends up in the wrong containers. The city of Wuppertal and the AWG together, are looking for ways to motivate its citizens to actively support keeping the city clean.

How can we create a climate-neutral production logistics between companies in an urban environment?

Many companies manufacture in urban or rural areas with limited access to factory space. When the company expands, new factory sites have to be built in distance to the existing infrastructure. This sets new challenges for logistics and production, which also effect the environment and the climate.
