The challenge

Wellington’s challenge was split into three parts: Mitigation, communication, and adaptation. The mitigation component was focused on waste and transport—being the two primary contributors to climate change as identified by the Wellington City Council. Nude Grocer uses glass jars to bring groceries to the customer's doorstep, and Boomerang Bags to carry the jars. The jars and bags are collected at the next delivery, and reused, creating a closed loop of packaging.

What's next

Nude Grocer started a beta trial earlier this year—delivering to the inner city, and partnering with local grocery suppliers.

"The ongoing support of the Climathon mentors and organising team has been of immense value and really aided the continuation of Nude Grocer... we feel like we're a part of a wider community, with an emphasis on positive impact."
