Digital waste management platform and app, which collect waste generation data from the users and offer/sell optimized waste collection routes to our clients - waste collectors and recycling fascilities.

Solution context

300 000t of only PET plastic is annually generated in Serbia. Only 5% of that is being recycled. Recycling rates in Serbia are even lower for other types of waste. The public landfill at the outskirts of the city is reaching 14m in height and it is only several meters away from some of the household. On the other hand, the exsiting recycling fascilities are not operating at their full capacity. Currently, the recyclables are being collected by individuals on the streets and being sold to these companies. However, a lot of the recyclable materials get polluted in this process, as they first reach the common container, get mixed with organic waste, and then they are manualluy seperated. This method resuslts in a lot of recyclable materials becoming unfit for recycling. An additional problem derives from the lack of infrastructure.

A better communication needs to exist between the producers of waste and waste collectors, which would allow for the on-site waste seperation and collecton before the recyclables reach the common, mixed waste container. In addition, the waste collection should be optimized to allow for the most efficient and optimized collection pathways,which would result in lower carbon-footprint and higher volume of collected recyclables. This is where our network & an app come into place. 

Solution description

Through an app, Recyclick collects information from the users (waste generators) about the type, the amount of waste and the available dates/timings for the collection of that waste. Based on the information collected from multile users, Recyclick calculates the best optimized waste collection routes for specific types of waste, and offers them to its clients (waste collectors, recycling companies which need to fill their recycling capacities). For example, on Saturday between 10am and 11am, we provide a 20km long route with 1t of plastic, 500kg of wood, 1t of organic waste etc. Our clients will be able to use filters in order to collect only the type of waste that they are interested in. 

On one hand, users will be incentivised to recycle more by choosing a form of a reward when signing up for the app - to earn money, or to donate it to the charity. In addition, the app will provide them with the instructions on how to seperate waste properly, whihc will allow for higher recycling rates and better seperation of recyclables. On the other hand, our clients will get access to the updated and customized information for the collection of the waste of their choice, which will allow for the higher volumes of collected waste, and will improve the efficiency of the recycling processes as the factory capacities will be met in a higher extent.
