Challenge description

The present mix of transport modes and fuels is not sustainable. The challenges of mobility are now having a bigger impact in the city and this can be witnessed by the ever ending traffic jams, crowded public transport, and high CO2 pollution. Society now has the challenge to build a sustainable, clean, accessible, integrated mobility system which contributes to our quality of life.

Challenge vision

We are looking forward to solve the following questions / agenda together with you.

• How can we motivate people to ride more in the city?

Bicycle is one of the most environmentally friendly means of transportation. How can we support cyclists and make their trips more enjoyable, healthy and safe?

This challenge consists in identifying factors that make a bike route attractive and developing a prototype estimating these factors to facilitate bike route planning and navigation. 

• How can open data and open source resources be used to generate solutions for more sustainable mobility?

Here, we want to use the available resources to create prototypes and open ideas that could change the future of mobility in Dar es Salaam. How can data generate tools that will bring environmental awareness to citizens and car drivers.
