Every city has cyclists, but not every city has a clearly designed concept for a cycling network. Where do we ride our bikes? Which biking trails could be designated as primary corridors? Can we connect all neighborhoods to the most optimal and meaningful whole? And where are the pedestrians? It's time for the innovative concept of walking and cycling networks. As part of this year's hackathon, we will make a strategic idea for a new network of trails on the map of Maribor, where people can safely, quickly and comfortably walk or ride a bike.
How can we design a high quality network of cycle routs or even cycle superhighways? Moreover, what visual identity would be strong enough that network will be clearly understandable, safe and confortable to citizens using bicycle infrastructure? Solutions could focus on new network of trails and using concepts such as metrominute, integrating ideas of Cycle Superhighways, Quietways and Green Cycle Routes. Recognizable visual identity should serve users as a baseline for wayfinding.
Contribute to Maribor as a future city of slow mobility! Together we will solve the climate challenge put forward by the Maribor Cycling Network. As part of this year's hackathon, we will search for solutions in a form of an innovative network of bicycle trails to shape the velo-city Maribor.
