How can we attract the Generation Z to the topics of climate protection and climate change adaptation, in order to create more awareness and climate friendly actions among youth?
Social Media, Smartphones and (online) Gaming are playing an ever-growing role in the lives of the Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012), additionally movements such as "Fridays for Future" get this generation involved in the field of environement. Through Influencers in the field of sustainability (such as DariaDaria), environmental problems are seen on Social Media (Instagram, YouTube, etc.) but one huge problem remains:
It is often hard to find and understand the information that is out there.
Challenge vision
“Serious Games/Responsible Games“ have the ambition – just like learning games – to generate information and education while there is still a good proportion to the entertainment aspect.
With the help of the provided material methods, concepts, online or offline games that get young people playfully involved in the topics climate protection and climate change adaptation should be developed.
Knowledge should be conveyed and awareness for climate friendly habits should be raised through this solution.The solution should have a big climate impact, be actionable and innovative
Goals:
- Digital (Online Gaming through Programmers) or analog (socio-scientific) approaches and everything in between that is possible.
- Ideas for communication tools and concepts, how to approach and attract young people
