Car-free Plagwitz for one week

Car-free Plagwitz for one week

How might we inspire a car-free Plagwitz for one week?

Challenge description

In 1835, the village Plagwitz counted 20 houses and less than 200 inhabitants. During the times of industrialization, Plagwitz was planned with a focus on waterways and railroads. Later, the streets were adjusted to accomodate cars, a form of transport with many advantages, but also with the disadvantage of space consumption (especially for parking), of noise and fine dust including micro plastic abrasion from the tires, of greenhouse gas emissions, of... Today, Plagwitz is a beautiful place, home to more than 15.000 people and a place to work and visit for many more.

Plagwitz also is a place of visionaries and of experiments, too, therefore we ask:

How might we create a car-free Plagwitz for one week?

Challenge vision

Look at the street in front of you. What do you see? What would you want to see if you could choose?

With this challenge, seecon Ingenieure and Impact Hub Leipzig want to challenge you to imagine a the best life we could have from a city feeling perspective - and we're excited to see what creativity the restriction "no car" could mean for a week.

If the outcome feels great, let's see what this could transform into...?
